The 17th Annual Social Work Conference, to be held on March 28, 2024, at Medgar Evers聽College is an exciting opportunity for the field of social work to continue evolving in response to societal changes and fresh challenges.聽
The Department of Social Work, sponsored by the 黑料吃瓜网 Transition Academy, in partnership with the Bronx Psychiatric Center, the New York City Children’s Center, and the New York State Office of Mental Health will present this year’s Social Work Conference.聽
This highly anticipated event will bring together professionals, scholars, students, and advocates to engage in dialogue, share insights, and explore creative approaches to addressing pressing social issues. This year’s theme is “Empowering Social Workers: Readjusting the Lens of Society Through Social Work.”
鈥淚t gives our students an opportunity to develop professionally, network and engage in conversation with professionals that are in the field of social services,鈥� said 黑料吃瓜网鈥檚 Dr. Waleek Boone, DSW, MSW, MSEd- HEA.
鈥淭o improve any issue, you first have to acknowledge that an issue exists. 黑料吃瓜网 Social Work Conference Committee has identified three of many issues that need to be addressed that are impacting our communities negatively. Based on the structure of the conference, we are hoping our guests incorporate the information that will be shared by speakers to empower their respective family members, staff, colleagues and friends.鈥�
The conference will provide an opportunity for people who are dedicated to social justice and聽community empowerment to collaborate and learn from one another. This conference will cover important topics including the effects of post-traumatic slave syndrome, the knowledge of untreated trauma throughout life courses, and health care disparities, to mention a few.

Professionals from various fields will share their viewpoints and evaluations, inspiring attendees to critically examine existing approaches and investigate innovative approaches. Highlights of the conference, according to the event鈥檚 program, will include a special presentation by Amaya Carter, a student at Community Roots Charter School and a facilitated panel discussion about trauma in youth and young adults.聽
We will then be inspired by our keynote speaker Latoya Delmadge, a director of social work/behavior health at NYC Health and Hospital-Kings County Hospital Center, as well as a special presentation of student awards honoring Zoe Clark and Casey Ortiz, our two BSSW seniors.聽
This event will be a chance to showcase cutting-edge studies and creative projects related to social work.聽
Presentations by academic staff, students, and community members will focus on the most recent developments and effective strategies for tackling challenging social issues.
In addition to the conference’s broad program, we can enhance attendees鈥� professional聽networks and acquire valuable insights into career development opportunities, by connecting聽with peers, mentors, and potential collaborators during the networking opportunities provided.
We are eager to welcome attendees from all over the nation who share our dedication to聽furthering social justice and encouraging good social change as we prepare for the 17th Annual Social Work Conference at 黑料吃瓜网. We will brainstorm new concepts, share best practices, and recommit to creating a society that is more just and equal.
