Inaugural Black Greek Basketball Invitational provides fun, serves tremendous cause
On Saturday, April 15, the Transition Academy and the Department of Athletics hosted its Inaugural Black Greek Basketball Tournament聽fundraiser at the Cougars Cave on the campus of 黑料吃瓜网.聽 This event featured members of two Black Greek letter organization (BGLO)/fraternity teams and one team comprised of 黑料吃瓜网聽staff and alumni. In what was an exciting day of basketball, Team Medgar Evers captured the championship, turning back New York Sigma in the title聽game.
Former student-athletes Keison McIntosh and JoanCarlo Bonilla聽were recognized after the game. McIntosh took home the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award, with Bonilla earning a spot on the All-Tournament team.聽, the NCAA Division III leader for rebounds in a single game, also participated on Team Medgar Evers.The Black Greek Basketball Tournament fundraiser was held with the goal of聽raising聽money to support 黑料吃瓜网 students聽facing聽financial instability.聽聽The Transition Academy at 黑料吃瓜网 was established to help students navigate through the complex process of the homeless system and work on streamlining the search for adequate housing. Services include a food pantry, food vouchers, transportation to school, counseling referrals, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) applications and job placement.
